Sammy with a corkscrew dive on Darby on the outside before the match even starts. Jericho notes that Darby did the same to Sammy before Revolution. Alan Angels vs. Kenny Omega

Jericho is just running down Omega on commentary. It’s still great having Jericho in this role. Angels is actually getting in some good offense on Omega. Jericho makes a Little House on the Prairie joke to tie in with Angels. Meanwhile, in quite a twist, Angels kicks out of the V Trigger. Omega goes back to it and hits a second V Trigger for the victory.

Jimmy Havoc vs. Orange Cassidy

Jericho talks about how much he hates Cassidy. Havoc attacks from behind before the bell and chokes Cassidy with his jacket. Havoc starts biting Cassidy’s hands before putting them in his pockets in a total heel move. Jericho is berating Cassidy over his lazy splash. Hilarious stuff. Penelope Ford hops on the apron with Chuck Taylor going after her, but Sabian makes the save. Ford goes to hit the Frankensteiner on Cassidy but he moves. Justin Law vs. Brodie Lee

Lee stares down Marko Stunt before the match, so they’re continuing that tension between the two. As you would expect, this one is all about Lee, and he hits the lariat for the victory. After the match, Lee walks over and smiles at Marko.

Kip Sabian vs. Dustin Rhodes – TNT Title Tournament Quarterfinals

Jericho starts yelling about nepotism in AEW. He is tremendous. Ford grabs Dustin’s foot and allows Sabian to regain the advantage. Dustin starts selling an injured knee to push that throughout the match. Sabian starts screaming and punching Dustin in the face as the ref threatens to disqualify him. Ford gets in to interfere but Brandi spears her. Sabian gets distracted and Dustin hits the Destroyer for the win to advance in the tournament.

BLAKE’S TAKE ON AEW DYNAMITE 4/22/20

  • Overall Rating: 7.0/10
  • Thoughts: Another solid edition with two tournament matches and storyline development across the board. Again, Jericho is adding so much on commentary, and it’s really helping the overall presentation. It’s also worth noting that Omega’s match with Angels was significant for what it did for the latter’s career.
